Hamilton’s Steakhouse Opens in Asheboro

Hamilton’s Steakhouse held a soft opening on November 2nd, 3rd & 4th, before they opened to the public on November 8th. They used the opportunity to fine tune things so when you visit the restaurant, you will have an unforgettable experience.
We arrived at 7 pm, and it appeared that many people had the same idea. There was a bit of a wait, but the friendly hostess took my phone number and I was able to go down the street to Lumina Wine & Beer and enjoy a wine while I waited for my table to become available.
The wait wasn’t too long at all, perhaps 20 minutes before we were seated in the elegantly appointed dining room. In renovating the space, they left the exposed brick walls, and added beautiful drop lighting over each high backed booth which lines the walls on both sides of the restaurant, and offers privacy to enjoy your dinner and have a conversation with your dinner companions without distraction.
The menu offers a variety of dishes from steak and chicken to seafood. Each steak dinner comes with a loaded baked potato soup or a salad of your choosing, and the dressings are freshly made in-house each day. A warm loaf of bread is delivered with your drinks while you peruse the menu and make your dinner selections. The bread is handmade in the restaurant, and absolutely delicious.
I chose a ribeye steak, with the Wedge Salad and Smoked Gouda and Bacon Mac & Cheese as my one side. I added green beans for a nominal extra charge, and they were cooked to perfection. We didn’t have to wait at all after ordering before our salads were delivered to the table, just as we ordered. I’m not a fan of blue cheese so I asked for no crumbles or blue cheese dressing on mine, but instead tried the house made Lemon-Dill Vinaigrette (which is delicious).

After the salads were finished, the plates were barely whisked away when a runner from the kitchen delivered the plated steaks and sides. Now, if you have ever worked in a kitchen, you understand how hard it is to get things to the table and still have them steaming. They have runners deliver the dishes to the table the minute the chef plates them, with no time for them to lose temperature.
Everything smelled divine and tasted even better. The steak was so tender, I could have cut it with a butter knife and it was cooked exactly the way I ordered it. The macaroni and cheese is creamy and delicious, I could literally eat it every day. My dinner companions’ dinners were equally as delicious and cooked to perfection.

The waitress was attentive throughout the meal, but not overly so. When we needed water refilled, it was there before we asked. Every request was handled in an efficient, professional manner and you couldn’t ask for better service. The manager stopped by the table to check on how things were, and offered comment cards for anything we noticed that could be improved upon – this was, after all, one of the training nights. We made a note that the music was just a little too soft, you could hear that something was playing, but it wasn’t loud enough to identify the song, so it was distracting. (I ate there again last week and the music was at just the right volume, so they obviously took the suggestions and comments to heart!)

If you are looking for a great dinner at a fine dining restaurant, whether to celebrate a special occasion or have a nice meal out with family and friends, this is definitely a welcome addition to downtown Asheboro. I would caution that although I’m sure they would be welcome, this is not a place you would take young children to eat, but somewhere you would go on a date with your spouse or to meet the girls for a meal.
