DEEPWATER HORIZON – Staring Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell and Kate Hudson this is a powerful, suspenseful film that is inspired by and honors real life heroes. It is a story about one of the greatest man-made disasters in U.S. history, the April 2010 explosion of the offshore drilling rig Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico which resulted in the world’s worst oil spill.
BENEDICT ARNOLD – Starring Aidan Quinn and Kelsey Grammer. The greatest general of the Revolution who also became its most dangerous enemy. Not many people knew he was, perhaps, the finest commander in the Continental Army but history has portrayed him as a traitor, who turned his back on America in its hour of need.
NUN’S STORY – This is an oldy by a goody. Starring Audrey Hepburn this is a story of a disillusioned nun who struggles to keep her vows despite the forces working against her. In the end, she sheds her idealism and vows and returns to “civilian” life.
THE ACCOUNTANT – If you like action films, this one will not disappoinnt. Starring Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick and John Lithgow, this film is about an accountant who suffers from a form of obsessive compulsive disorder who is also a very capable assassin. He is hired by a company that suspects one of its executives is embezzeling money and what he finds is something far more devious. While this movie did not receive rave reviews, for those who enjoy this genre, it will prove to be an excellent film that is action packed from beginning to end.
WHEN ELEPHANTS WERE YOUNG – Narrated by William Shatner this is a true story of a young man and his elephant living in Thailand. They share a life of struggle on the streets of Bangkok. This story offers an inspiring message of hope for the conservation of endangered Asian elephants. This is a surprisingly good movie with a happy ending and perfect for the entire family
