“The Tacky Christmas Sweater Party is Communities in Schools major fund-raiser to sustain programs to ensure students success in school and in life” said Foster. “Thanks to the CIS’s work, thousands of students receive the support and resources they need to stay in school and be successful”.

Last year’s event raised more than $25,000, and involved a growing number of community volunteers and increased support from sponsors and donors. ” We are excited to see a 20% increase in new sponsors, said Lisk, with more sponsors from across the county”.

A highlight of the evening is the Feed a Need, a live auction to raise money for the Back Pack program which provides food to hundreds of needy students. As part of the program, children at many schools take home a backpack full of kid-friendly food every weekend of the school year and during summer school.

Guests will enjoy dinner provided by Millstone Catering of Liberty, wine from local vendors, music by Stepping Out Entertainment and beer from Natty Greene’s Brewing .
